Historic Capstick District
The Capstick Historic District is the amongst the first Industrial areas of Montville dating back to the 19th century. It sits empty today with all buildings having been torn down. The land is contaminated and is being cleaned. Imagine being on Taylortown Rd and seeing these buildings today.
Route 287 - Splitting Montville
Back before the early 1990s, Route 287 used to end at exit 47 - Montville Exit. Then came the 1990s and it was extended all the way into New York. Here are some pictures of it being built.
Historic Railroads
The railroad was one of the defining factors that changed Montville from agrarian landscape to a more rural residential community.
Morris Canal
The Morris Canal in New Jersey was in operation from 1831 to 1924. It was completed in 1836, extending 102 miles across New Jersey, connecting the Delaware River at Phillipsburg to the Hudson River in Jersey City. Despite its initial success, the canal eventually became obsolete due to competition from railroads and was closed and dismantled in 1924.
