Historic Registers
Montville's sister historic organization in Montville is the governmental entity, Montville Township Historic Preservation Commission (HPC). It is a separate organization from the Historical Society. It has been around since 1986. Beginning in the 1980's and continuing today, the Commission and other historically minded individuals have been nominating individual properties and entire districts for inclusion on either the National, State and/or Local historic registers. There are currently 66 properties still standing that are certified historic at the local level. 11 of which are also on the State and National register. In addition, there are 4 Historic Districts which each comprise multiple properties. The four districts are outlined on the Historic Districts web page.

Below is a list of the registered properties (N = National register, S = State Register, L = Locally Certified) along with some sample property images. For additional information on each of the properties, come visit us at our museum or at one of our special events and pickup a copy of the "Historic Sites of Montville Township: A Self-Guided Automobile Tour". There is a nominal charge of $3.

As most of these properties are private residences or on private property, please respectful to the Owner's by not trespassing.
